Correction: Meteorite is NWA 4425 not 4225 as listed. My error: see the same image along with four more images with transmitted light, crossed polars, crossed polars with full wave retardation plate and crossed polars with quarter wave retardation plate. These will show that the central portion of the image is not metal since light is transmitted through this portion of the specimen. |

Ureilites are a strange meteorite type...the various rings around the chunk of metal are interesting. The feature was likely a local hot spot within the material. |
