Gary writes:
This specimen features a frothy and bubbly fusion crust, which in aubrites is light brown or tan in color. Note the shock melt lithology, which is black instead of the pale blond of a typical unaltered aubrite matrix.

*Norton* County... let me quote from our stellar, late O.R. *Norton*: "... aubrites contain so little total iron that little magnetite forms. The crust ... takes on a light beige to almost clear tone, the color of the glass formed by melted iron-poor minerals." [Norton O.R. (2002) The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Meteorites, Ch. 3, p. 54]
