Stephen writes:
Since I live in a climate that receives the brunt of the 4 seasons - cold, wet, damp, freezing and thawing - many would say it's not the best environment to hunt meteorites, which is true in many respects. So when I'm not outside hunting like a hyperactive bloodhound searching for truffles , I let technology and my finger tips take over the hunt like some, or most, of us and scour through eBay. To top it off I'm a sucker for unclassifieds because there are magnificent specimens to be had that won't burn a hole in the seat of your pants if you search hard enough. That's how I found this one with its beautiful pastel red desert patina with hues of orange, yellow, and dark brown smudged together. Ripples and melted flow waves still appear very pronounced on most of the exterior with the addition of a couple micro impacts, a couple of shock veins, and under magnification I was able to clearly see a nice 3mm barred olivine chondrule. This stone makes my happy , but I'm easy.

I*m glad you described the meteorite. I didn*t notice the ripples, flow waves, and micro impacts until I read your description. Nice little stone.

Beautiful stone indeed, Stephen, with its animated and story-telling surface. Congrazz.

Thanks , yes I think it's more accurate to say that it has a clay putty color Doug, I have no intentions of cutting the stone John!!;) The shock veins and chondrules on that side are really cool, the shock veins can be seen elsewhere as well. Thanks guys!!

Thanks for sharing Steve. Nice enthusiasm for the obsession and I much enjoyed your description. The hue is displayed oddly on my monitor, with a clay, putty color on the stone, and a green shadow, though all looks quite attractive.
