What is a thin section?       What do all the colors mean?
27 grams.   L4

TKW 200 kg. Observed fall 6 September 1918, Saratovskaya oblast', Russia.

Bill writes:
Eye Candy: Cover-slipped Thin Section images; perhaps with uncrossed or crossed or parallel polars, perhaps with a first order compensator ( red tint) or a quarter wave plate, perhaps with reflected light or both reflected and transmitted light, or other permutations. Have fun figuring them out!

Trick or Treat - some images have "skulls" looking at you.

For lack of a succinct scientific summary, i'll say Super. BO's in any light are always interesting. Thanks again, Bill M.

nice work Bill...thin sections are always fun. I've been recently reviewing the "Atlas" from Marvin Kilgore/Lauretta and comparing to similar thin sections I have.
