I agree: this piece was once, in its origin, pretty hot. Then cool. Then, at least at its surface, pretty hot again. And finally its simply cool. And yes, John, I see the spikes develop in 90* angles too - but there are, at the margins, some sikes going into another direction. I must confess that I haven't seen such a shape in decades. But what are decades? |

With that mostly concave face, and that 90* angle on the spike, I'll bet, in this specimen's born moment, that spike continued to its last molten drop to a conical point. Hmm. Thank you
