Thomas writes:
Libyan Desert Glass Museum quality specimen 70 gram out of the saharagems collection. The piece was bought some years ago by a well known Swiss meteorite collector from A. Carion at the St. Marie-aux-Mines mineral show. I was luckily able to purchase it some weeks ago. It's a 70.4 g piece and "has it all":
Very translucent, nice yellow-green coloring, fine dark inclusions, different outside texture on both sides, lots of Christobalite inclusions and a perfectly naturally "drilled" hole.

One of my most amazing pieces and very unique in this composition and quality.

Fantastic piece Thomas! One of the nicest I've ever seen, and I've seen quite a few.

Thanks for the compliments. To Roman: Holes in LDG are "naturally" made by sand blowing for hundreds and thousands of years over the glass. Similar to water carving different shapes/holes into stones. Gorilla? Sorry don't see him, but nice that kids can see it :-) And no I don't wear 70g around my neck. T.

Hello Thomas. Nice piece for sure, Congrats . Im no expert on Libyan desert glass,so please forgive me, but how do you get a perfectly drilled hole in a desert environment. I've seen 3ft. holes 30ft. deep drilled by the hydraulic pressures by Lake Champlains tributaries, but that's some awesome hydraulic force there. I still do not own a Lib glass and would like to. On a lighter note, does anybody else see a gorillas head in that piece too. My daughter said it looks like one and i'll be damned if it dont . The pointy back of the head looks like its a silverback gorilla. Again, a piece full of character like your aquisition is what i would love to own eventually. I do need more Intel on that hole though, Thanks for sharing it with us . Can we assume that you put a strong string through the hole and wear it around your neck once in a while ? Dont be shy :-) Have a Good Night and God Bless Thomas. Hello Thomas. Nice piece for sure, Congrats . Im no expert on Libyan desert glass,so
