Scott, my understanding CAN be wrong :/...and you may be correct. The images and my first thought/words to go with them just came out in my post. I'd take a correction too, so I remember once and for all. I was once told by my supervisor as a young cocky mechanical engineer that I might be wrong sometimes. Good lesson. |

John, I was assuming this was a type B or perhaps even type C CAI due to the coarse grains, but you could be right. The extra heating in a CK4 probably had some impact on the structure, including the outside light ring. Would love some CAI experts to weigh in on the type and what caused the multiple rings! |

My understanding is that the featured large white CAI in the middle is a Type A melilite-rich (CAI) inclusion with a layered rim. |
