Geoff writes:
Everyone knows this famous iron from the Namib Desert. Often, collectors see the very fine, attractive, embossed etch within and recall this notable feature when the topic of Gibeon meteorites are brought up. However, many of these uncut irons will display some of the most fascinating external sculptural features, shaded with a dark, gun-metal finish. It is believed that in-flight explosions, terrestrial weathering (or a combination of both) are responsible for these unique transmogrifications. Simply a spectacular iron sculpture to behold!

Though doubtless that it is even more extraordinary to view in person, it does acquire an extrinsic multi- sculptural essence in the photos. Pic.#2-A Wave; as if stretching forth to excavate some long-buried treasure on the beach. Pic.#1-A giant space-amoeba; preparing to engulf a tasty carbon-rich meteoroid. Pic.#3-(My favorite of the set) A dog laying in the yard, casually observing the goings-on. pic.#4- This one is somehow strangely reminiscent of something from the ancient Egyptian mythos. Thank you for sharing, Geoff

This Gibeon is simply a beauty, Geoff! My first reaction upon seeing the photos -- after WOW -- was this meteorite is a work of art; Nature's art! Thanks for sharing this one...
